Reviewer Rating: * * * * Whew! 'Confronted With Death' written by B.J. Bloch is an emotional roller coaster ride. B.J. shows promising talent on becoming a really great writer. The beginning of the book seems a little amateurish - and several places throughout the book are choppy and nonsensical but overall it is a very emotionally stirring book. The premise of 'Confronted With Death' is exactly what the title suggests. The book begins with death and ends with death; the in-between pages deal with how a person struggles each day to overcome the 'little deaths' of everyday living, emotional deaths of romantic relationships gone wrong and spirit deaths dealing with people turning their backs on you or attacking you. To be honest, I was not expecting to like this book - especially considering the choppy amateurish beginning. I confessed to being pleasantly surprised and certainly riveted to the screen. I found myself rooting wholeheartedly for Beth, the subject of the book, to overcome her seemingly insurmountable personal issues. I feel that this book could become an outstanding one with a really talented editor. She, the author, just needs to dig deeper. I found myself bawling at one point. The scenes are graphic, violent, poignant, and stunning realistic. Enjoy this book - I sure did!
