Susann Batson has created a loveable creature in Wiggles the Duck. Wiggles desperately wants to be a dog so that the Wallace family will love her as much as they did when she was a duckling, and as much as they now love the three lively beagles who also reside in the Wallace household.
In her desperate attempt to gain love and respect, Wiggles leads the little beagles out from the safety of their gated yard and onto busy Christopher Road, providing just the right mix of danger and adventure that will keep young readers or listeners anxious to discover the outcome.
The lessons of being happy with yourself and being loved for yourself are gently taught.
The colorful childlike drawings add interest and detail to the simple story.
