Hattie Boyd

My name is Hattie Boyd and I live in Alabama.  I am married and have six grown children.  I have been reviewing for almost six years.  I review for AOL Writers Club, Scribes World, Heart Rate Reviews, and Sharpwriter.  I love to read and will read any genre.  My favorite genre is romance; romance suspense, contemporary, multicultural, some time travel.  I do not read sci-fi, although I have reviewed a few.

I have a lot of authors that are automatic buys for me, but I will try a new author when it is recommended by a review site I trust.  I do enjoy the new ebooks that are coming out.

Ken Mason

Ken Mason penned his first poem to his wife in 1991, shortly after they were married.  The writing progressed from poems to short stories, until his Anthology was published by Commoners Publishing in Canada in 1994. Then, in 1995 came the birth of the first novel of the Riley trilogy, entitled Riley - DragonMaster.

In June of 2000, the public received its first glimpse of Ken Mason's storytelling ability with the release of Riley - Eye in the City, by Crossroadspub.com.  Riley-DragonMaster is due to be released in the fall of 2000.

A Sample of the book can be seen at
http://www.homestead.com/krmason/preludeview.html

Mary Adair

A love for reading inspired me to write my own stories. For twenty years I worked as a Registered Medical Technologist and wrote in-house manuals as a part of that position. When my husband and I decided it was time to retire, we decided to make it a really big move. Mike moved his big city wife to the Ouachita Mountains in southeastern Oklahoma. And I am so glad he did. We love it here. It's the perfect place to appease my passion for reading and this is where my dream of becoming a published author came to fruition.

My next vision? To become a Best Selling Author of course. Happy reading and remember, only Passion can bring a Vision to Life.

"Safe Beginnings is a poignant tale and Duncan does an excellent job of creating life-like characters that are easy to visualize."  PJ Nunn, The Charlotte Austin Review

Michele got her first taste of recognition as a writer in high school when she took Third Place for an essay contest about patriotism. Her love of writing led to working on the high school newspaper and the yearbook. After graduating high school, she attended Tulsa Community College and was hired as an associate editor on the college newspaper, and eventually took over the Managing Editor's position. In college, she tried her hand at fiction, and began writing a novel in the genre she loved to read--romance.

Four books later, she sold DADDY IN TRAINING, a short contemporary romance, to Hard Shell Word Factory. Starlight Writer Publications will publish her other short contemporary romances, HUSBAND FOR HIRE, HOUSEWIFE FOR RENT, and BRIDE IN TRAINING. Her fifth novel, WILD BRIDE, will be published by Hard Shell Word Factory. Her collection of mainstream short stories, UNLOVE STORIES, is available at Mighty Words.

I have a son who is almost 30, a DIL I love, Shelby, my granddaughter and a grandbaby due in September. I live with my mom and a very spoiled cat named Perza. I didn't expect to retire at 43, but now have the time to do my very favorite hobby ... reading.

Barbara Edwards

Barbara Edwards grew up in a small town in Connecticut. She claimed the title of Jill of all Trades doing everything from crossing guard to sales manager before she attended the University of Hartford where she earned a Master's Degree in Public Administration. She wrote poetry to satisfy her inner urge to express herself and turned to novels when she admitted she needed to tell her stories in a longer form. She is fascinated with the past so it was a logical step to write historical romances. The romance comes from her belief in people's basic goodness and longing for love. She joined Romance Writers of America in 1989 and belongs to the Connecticut Chapter, the Central Florida Chapter and the Mystery/Suspense chapter. She is a Past President and former Newsletter Editor of Central Florida Romance Writers. She was a finalist in the Kiss of Death contest in 1998, and the Duel on the Delta long historical category in 1997. Her first novel, Another Love, is a historical romance available from Starlight Writer Publications at http://www.starpublications.com. Her second release, Annie's Heart will be available in December. A third novel, Rachel's Rescue is a romantic suspense due out in 2001. Now that writing is her full-time profession, she enjoys gardening, sewing and Civil War re-enacting with her husband Bill and her teen-ager. Carole Nomarhas

Carole Nomarhas lives in Australia with an incredibly patient husband and an incredibly large dog.

My fiction comes in many guises though most usually it veers towards the fantastic, and so has been categorized as SF, fantasy, horror and when all other labels fail it has even been called literature (the shame).

My stories have appeared in numerous Australian publications from Eidolon to Outrider, and sometimes on the net including appearances in Jackhammer and Twilight Showcase. My most recent sales have been to Winedark Sea, Eternal Twilight and the forthcoming HWA affiliate anthology Bell, Book and Beyond...

In 1998 my fantasy short story 'Grievous Music' was short-listed for a Ditmar award.I began reviewing e-zines for Dark Matter Chronicles in 1999, and things have grown since then. In May of this year I began the webzine 'The Goblin Muse', a site for market news, reviews and horror fiction, aimed at horror writers. Visit her Web site: http://www.goblinmuse.com

Susan Bailey-Halaney

Born 1952 in St. Louis Missouri,  Susan Bailey-Halaney had plenty of time to acquire lots of life experience. The daughter of a US Marine, I grew up living all over the US: Illinois, Virginia, California, Louisiana, Texas, and New Jersey. Out of college I became a registered nurse, specializing in ICU and critical care. I pursued my artistic side as a stained glass artist designer. I am the mother of three wonderful young men. In 1990 I was widowed. Became disabled in 1997 giving me time to read. Can anyone imagine not reading?

A wannabe writer, I am an avid reader. I most like fiction that informs me about something, and above all is enjoyable. I find people highly interesting both psychologically and sociologically. Give me a peek at what makes a believable character tick, show me some cultural dynamics, sweep me off to a place out of my safe little world, teach me anything, or make me think, add thrills and chills, and I’ll get my own cup of java and be in heaven.

Robyn Lidstone

I'm a single (never married) Australian "Baby Boomer" with an independent lifestyle and a great zest for life. Very much a people person, I also relish the fact that I can spend lots of time "home alone". I'm passionate about books and writing. I've been in my own writing business for 18 years. I work in the IT Industry and Business Sector as a technical writer, editor and trainer. This work is very "intense" and centres around large computer systems, software packages and other related hi-tech stuff.

I write contemporary category romance and mainstream fiction, do manuscript assessments and run writing courses. I read widely across the genres, and feel fortunate to be earning a living from something I truly love.

The lack of Australian publishers of romance fiction prompted me to launch Livewire Publishing in August this year. I'm acquiring some great
manuscripts and hope to release books onto the market in 2001. The internet has opened up wonderful opportunities for Livewire New Millennium Romances to be launched on the international stage. It's exciting to contemplate this next phase of my very satisfying life.

Constance M. Gotsch

I'm the program director for a small public radio station in the Western United States.. I also am an arts journalist.  That's a part of a "A Mouth Full of Shell's" heroine, Betsy Craig that's really me.   She's a journalist; I'm a journalist.  I write to speak for the radio.  Writing organizes what I say on the air.

I was born in Illinois lived in New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania, New York State, Iowa, Kansas, and South Dakota.  Now New Mexico.  In all those places I was doing lots of things: growing up, going to college, teaching, and doing radio.  Except not all at the same time. Wherever I live I delve into local history.  the past can make us understand the present, if we let it.   I like to cook, travel and take black and white photos.  I've visited Germany, Austria Switzerland, Ireland, England, France, Italy, Greece, Canada, the Caribbean, and Mexico.

You can see of my photos if you go to my web site.

Betsy Craig in my novel "A Mouth Full of Shell" likes to travel and lives in Pennsylvania.  She's a teacher.  She has a parakeet.  I have -- two dogs.  Ha! Fooled you that time.  She's struggling with academic politics in the story.  We all struggle with some form of politics.  She does okay.  Just like most of us do. I do all kinds of writing.  Always did.  That's important.  One kind sharpens the other.

"A Mouth Full of Shell's" characters are all real in the sense that I either based them on people I've met, on composites of people I've known. Some of the stuff in the story happened to me.  A lot happened to people I knew.  The rest?  Well the Irish have a saying that you shouldn't let the truth get in the way of a good story, so I started with the truth and expanded it. For "Shell's" real people, I pictured individuals as a wrote. Thought how they walked talked, sounded, and acted.  Anna Martin is real, though that isn't her real name. Hank was an actual man, and Roger Farmington.  Ellen is alive and Steve and Mike, Joe and Andy, though I haven't seen them for a long long time.  And Jeannie's real.  Her family's made up from somewhere in my head. Todd's a composite who is a gourmet cook.  Andrea comes from several sources. So do Johann von Steinholtz, Violet, Leonore, and Lance.  Dr. Josylin is real -- with much admiration for the colleague on whom he is based.  I hope you can meet and enjoy all the characters in   "A Mouth Full of Shell."

Connie Gotsch received an award for Broadcasting Excellence for a medium market station from the New Mexico Broadcasters Association on June 9, 2001. To earn the honor she had written a public service announcement for Farmington and Durango's San Juan Symphony. Gotsch is the Program Director of KSJE, public Radio foor San Juan College in Farmington New Mexico.  About 50 PSAs were considered for the prize.

Ashley Alquine

I love to play with words, see them on the page, hear them spoken, hear their melody in my mind.

I am an Arizona poet  who has been mentored by two distinguished Arizona poets: Lee R. Ballard and the late Dale Andersen. I have a new book of poetry out "Sparrow in the Snow" isbn 0595005225. I am hard at work on a
second book which will be titled "Twilight Dream". I have had a poem published at Puddinghouse.com - a poetry journal and press, a local Arizona poetry journal titled "La Chuparosa", and I also have a poem in the "I Remember" collection of Teachers and Writers Collaborative.

I was born February 6, 1965 in San Diego, California. I came to Arizona when I was 18 to attend college. I met my husband in college the next year and got married in 1985. I have four beautiful daughters.  I've homeschooled my
children, and I tutor other children. I am currently learning about video production. The poetry society I belong to is going to be producing a poetry talkshow of sorts. I am currently the president of the Phoenix Poetry Society and the  treasurer of the Arizona State Poetry Society, and I've done various public readings.

Emily Dickinson, W.H. Auden, John Keats, e.e. cummings and T.S. Eliot are probably the most pivotal influences on my work. Of course, I have many, many poets in my list of favorites, but those are the most influential that come to mind.

I have two children who love to read also. My son is 23 and my daughter is 6. My daughter is just learning to read and already shows signs of being a book-a-holic!

I enjoy camping, playing the piano, reading, sewing, crochet, movies, and collecting old books. I'm from the old school, but I have rather enjoyed this new e-book thing. It is very convenient and what a wonderful way for a new writer to get started. Keep up the good work and I look forward to working with everyone more in the future.
